More about the institute
The history of the Institute of Computer Systems begins in the mid-twentieth century. It was during this period that the active use of computer technology began, the emergence of laboratories of computer science and automation, and therefore the training of specialists with knowledge in the field of automation, electronics and computer technology has expanded in the country's universities.
In the mid-50's there were four faculties: Mechanical-Technological Faculty, Faculty of Heat Power Engineering, Chemical-Technological Faculty and Faculty of Electrical Engineering. It should be noted that the Faculty of Electrical Engineering can be considered as a "father" of the future Institute of Computer Systems. In this faculty in 1954 the department of Automation of Production Processes was created. Candidate of Science (Engineering), Associate Professor Nikolai Pokhilo became the first Dean of this faculty.
In 1956, the department began training engineers for a new specialty - Automation and Telemechanics. The first graduation of engineers in the new specialty took place in 1961. The Faculty of Electrical Engineering is organizing a number of new departments of radio engineering profile and department of industrial electronics. In 1964, a new faculty was created on the basis of the departments of automation of industrial processes and industrial electronics - the faculty of automation and industrial electronics, which marked the beginning of the official history of the Institute of Computer Systems.
The next few years were the years of intensive development of the new faculty. New modern disciplines were introduced into the curricula, the laboratory base of the departments was improved, began the training of scientific and pedagogical staff in graduate school, research works were developed. In 1969, the Faculty of Automation and Industrial Electronics was transformed into the Faculty of Automation and Computer Engineering. Since 2000, the faculty has been transformed into the Institute of Computer Systems.
Gradually, the staff of the Institute of Computer Systems expanded, it gradually included new departments and a number of international student centers, where students participate in embedded learning programs and receive internships at European partner universities, for example, in Germany, Slovakia, Spain, Poland, the Czech Republic have opportunity to get a double diploma.
The Institute of Computer Systems actively cooperates with famous IT- companies. Such cooperation implies the joint preparation of students in the centers of the companies operating at the Institute of Computer Systems of Luxoft, NETCRACKER, Sigma. Project training and startup movement are actively developing. A number of student projects have found their investors.
Over the years, the Institute of Computer Systems has given a ticket to lives of more than 10,000 professionals who now work in different corners of the world. The creative spirit and inspiration, as well as the high standarts for the preparation of students and the development of specialized tools of computer engineering remain the same today.
