On November 22, the Department of Nuclear Power Plants at the National University "Odesa Polytechnic" hosted a meeting-seminar with representatives of the corporation "Ukrainian Atomic Instruments and Systems."
The event was attended by the General Director of the corporation, Valerii Stepanovych Petrenko, First Deputy General Director, Serhii Mykolaiovych Tomusiak, and Director of the Marketing Center, Alla Volodymyrivna Yurieva.
The seminar addressed cooperation in key areas such as the development of small modular reactors (SMRs), the implementation of radiation monitoring technologies, and radioactive waste management. A significant milestone of the meeting was the signing of a partnership and cooperation agreement between the university and the corporation, outlining joint activities in the fields of nuclear and thermal energy, information technologies, mechanical engineering, management, and marketing. Particular attention was paid to the development of small modular reactors, within which the parties confirmed their active participation in the activities of the Industrial Alliance, established under Euratom to promote this technology.
The seminar participants specified directions for work within the Alliance’s working groups, particularly in four key areas, including personnel training. Additionally, the prospects for cooperation with the University of Bucharest were discussed, where a simulator of a nuclear power plant by NuScale Power – a leading global developer of SMR technologies – is already operational.
As a result of the meeting, a decision was made to create a joint working group that will include interested staff of the Department of Nuclear Power Plants and students. This meeting marked an important step in strengthening the partnership between the university and the corporation, aimed at advancing innovative technologies and training highly qualified specialists in the field of nuclear energy.
