On November the 27 and 28, in 2019, a group of students from the Ukrainian-Spanish Institute successfully passed the linguistic certification by the programs of the International Diploma of Spanish (DIE), at the Examination Centre “Grand” in Odesa National Polytechnic University, certified by the Foundation of the Study of the Spanish Language and Culture (FIDESCU).
The DIE diploma is a certificate of competence and proficiency in Spanish in oral and written form, officially recognized by the Ministries of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Spain and Italy. The DIE certification programs were developed by the FIDESCU Foundation, in Madrid, together with the Pontifical University of Salamanca and are fully compliant with the European standards for teaching and assessing language competencies of MCER.
All the international diplomas and relevant linguistic certification programs are installed at 6 levels (from A1 – beginner, to C2 – proficiency). The certification at the Centre “Grand” of Odesa National Polytechnic University was carried out according to the DIE programs of levels A2 (elementary) and B1 (intermediate), which regulate the oral part of the exam (the duration is, respectively, 12 and 16 minutes) and written (1 hour 50 minutes and 2 hours 10 minutes) consisting of four / five tasks each one. For the oral part of the exam, the audio fixation is provided. The evaluation of the results is carried out according to the criteria: understanding, fluency in oral speech, proficiency in grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation.
In accordance with the plan for preparing the students of the Ukrainian-Spanish Institute for the participation in the credit mobility programs with the partner universities of Spain in 2020, the 3rd year students were admitted to certification: Taisiia Kozariezova (group EID-171), Viktoria Kotovets (EAI-175), Polina Bohuslavska (EIK-171), Polina Fedorova (EIK-171), Danyila Yakovleva (EIS-171), Sofiia Gnatenko (EIK-171). A week before the certification, all the candidates were given the opportunity to undergo the trial testing and the qualified analysis of their competencies at the selected level.
The qualified DIE examiners – I.E. Dobrovolska-Pipich and O.A. Nesterenko, the professors of the Spanish language Department, noted that according to the results of the certification all the candidates showed sufficient knowledge and competencies to receive the DIE diploma of the appropriate level. The final decision will be made within 30–40 days by the experts of the central office of FIDESCU, in Madrid, based on the results of checking the audio files and written answers of the candidates.
